On June 28th, 2019, the training session on WHO hepatitis C guideline was held in Hefei (the second stop of the series of training sessions), hosted by China Liver Health and co-organized by Infectious Diseases Branch of Anhui Medical Association , Anhui Infectious Disease Quality Control Center, Infectious Disease Doctor Branch of AnHui Medical Doctor Association. More than 200 healthcare workers from over 40 hospitals in Anhui and other provinces attended the training session. At the training session Deputy director Liu Zhongfu from the National Center for AIDS/STD Control and Prevention under China CDC and Dr. Chen Zhongdan from WHO representative office in China attended the session and interpreted the burden, prevention and control status and challenges of hepatitis C in China and worldwide respectively. With academician Zhuang Hui, a foremost authority on hepatology, serving as the general counsel, the project aims to implement the National Viral Hepatitis Prevention and Control Plan (2017-2020), actively integrate social resources to jointly promote the screening, detection, prevention and treatment of hepatitis C, promote the integration of hepatitis C screening and management standards in China with international standards, improve the cure rate of hepatitis C and strengthen the management of adverse reactions. In China, there are about 10 million people infected with hepatitis C. According to the Global Health Sector Strategy on Viral Hepatitis (GHSS) adopted by the World Health Assembly, China should achieve the goal of 90% of HCV infections being diagnosed and 80% of confirmed cases being treated by 2030. In terms of this goal, health care workers in China still have a long way to go. Prof. Li Jiabin Prof. Li Jiabin, executive vice president of the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University, said that Hefei was the second stop to hold the training session on WHO hepatitis C guideline under China Hepatitis C Elimination Alliance Public Welfare Project after Chengdu. Prof. Li pointed out that the new WHO hepatitis C guideline reflected the latest progress of hepatitis C treatment globally, introduced effective measures and experience of several countries in combating hepatitis C, recommended pan-genotypic drugs for hepatitis C, provided a convenient treatment plan for primary care physicians and common patients, and was worth learning for doctors in China. Director Li Mingyang introduced the China Hepatitis C Elimination Alliance Public Welfare Project. Li Mingyang, director of China Liver Health, said that, under the gauidance of health and disease control departments of Anhui province and Hefei city and relying on medical insurance policy on hepatitis C, China Hepatitis C Elimination Alliance Public Welfare Project will carry out in-depth cooperation with local hospitals, provide supports for primary health care institutions to carry out health education for hepatitis C prevention and control in communities, provide help in the detection and diagnosis of high-risk groups so as to contribute to hepatitis C elimination in Anhui province. |
