On behalf of 40 primary and secondary schools receiving aid in Shannan, he expressed gratitude for the donations and expert guidance provided by the project, and clarified requirements for schools to cooperate with the project. Speech by deputy director Gong Bu Chilie Bianba, the director of the Education Bureau of Shannan, delivered a speech at the kick-off meeting. He pointed out that children’s health was critical to the future of the nation. Tibet is located in the areas of extreme poverty among the“three regions and three prefectures”, with low social and economic development level. People’ concept of life is relatively backward and their health awareness and health literacy are relatively weak. The launching of liver health promotion project, training for health counselors, donation of public welfare materials and implementation of health education activities in primary and secondary schools in Shannan would help improve the health awareness of teachers and students, foster good health habits and promote healthy development of children physically and mentally as well as contribute to the in-depth implementation of health and poverty alleviation. He emphasized that, through participating in the project and attending lectures by experts, teachers should establish health consciousness, master health knowledge, especially in liver disease prevention and control, mental health and first aid, acquire the skills of carrying out science popularization activities in campus and make good use of donations so as to raise campus science popularization activities to a new level and ensure the project implemented well and practically. Speech by director Chilie Bianba Director Wang Jianguang first praised the efforts of Shannan to complete the task of poverty alleviation and took pride in the achievements of Shannan. In the past two years, the China Education Development Foundation and the China Teacher Development Foundation mainly focused on poverty alleviation, especially poverty alleviation through education. On behalf of the two foundations, he expressed sincere gratitude to all the educators for their hard work over the years and their contribution to the success of poverty alleviation in Shannan. He said that there was still a long way to go in education and encouraged all teachers to make more efforts and train more talents for our country so as to make China a power in terms of education, human resources and talents. Director Wang cited the significant role that social organizations played in social governance process, such as the China Education Development Foundation, the China Teacher Development Foundation and China Liver Health. It is necessary to make good use of superior resources of social organizations to participate in and promote educational work. It is a good start for the education system in Shannan to open up and receive health organization services. In the future, we welcome more social organizations, such as China Liver Health, to step into remote areas like Shannan, make more contributions to those areas and arouse the public's charity awareness, therefore contributing to cultivating useful talents for our country. Finally, he urged the participating teachers to take advantage of this training and put into practice what they have learned so as to benefit more children and provide more opportunity for their development. Speech by director Wang Jianguang Director Li Mingyang introduced that, located in the the areas of extreme poverty in the“three regions and three prefectures”, Shannan had achieved success in poverty alleviation and made rapid progress across all aspects with government's vigorous investment and the help of the whole country in recent years. However, due to the low economic development level and the relatively backward concept of life, people's health awareness is still weak. Various liver diseases such as hepatitis and Hepatic hydatidosis are still common. Launched in primary and secondary schools in Shannan, the Social Service Pilot Project for Liver Health Promotion aims to improve the health ability of campus in a short term through training health counselors, providing health materials and carrying out health activities, so that children in Tibetan areas can acquire health knowledge, develop health habits, establish health concepts and get rid of the threat of diseases. Director Li Mingyang introduced the project arrangements. At the kick-off meeting, director Li Mingyang handed over the donated material worth 492,000 yuan, including student microscopes, hand sanitizers and health science books, to representatives of teachers from 40 primary and secondary schools in Shannan. The donation handover ceremony Prof. Feng Bo from Peking University People's Hospital, Prof. Bai Yuping from Beijing Academy of Educational Sciences and Prof. Yao Shibin from Affiliated Hospital of Chifeng University gave lectures to primary and secondary school teachers on topics of "common liver diseases in adolescents and the prevention strategy", "mental health of primary and secondary school students", and "safety skills in primary and secondary schools——platinum 10 minutes" respectively. Ms. Ma Lili from China Liver Health elaborated the implementation plan of science popularization activities in campus. Prof. Feng Bo introduced common liver diseases in adolescents and the prevention strategy. Prof. Bai Yuping carried out science popularization of mental health of primary and secondary school students. Prof. Yao Shibin carried out science popularization of safety skills in primary and secondary schools. Health counselors attended the training. Director Li Mingyang concluded that there were currently 90 million people infected with hepatitis B virus and 7.6 million people infected with hepatitis C virus, which were the main source of liver cirrhosis and liver cancer. Hepatic hydatidosis is prevalent in China’s western regions, including Gansu, Xinjiang, Qinghai and Tibet. With 66 million people under threat, it is the main reason for poverty and re-poverty caused by illness in agricultural and pastoral areas . The implementation of liver health promotion project in Shannan would not only help prevent and control major infectious diseases and protect the health of local people, but would also be of great significance to boosting the economic development of agriculture and animal husbandry, promoting social harmony and stability, and building a comprehensive well-off society by 2020. The project will strictly comply with relevant national regulations and be implemented in a down-to-earth manner to ensure that the target population can benefit from it. The project will welcome the supervision of all sectors of society. |
