Director Li Mingyang concluded that there were currently 90 million people infected with hepatitis B virus and 7.6 million people infected with hepatitis C virus, which were the main source of liver cirrhosis and liver cancer. Hepatic hydatidosis is prevalent in China’s western regions, including Gansu, Xinjiang, Qinghai and Tibet. With 66 million people under threat, it is the main reason for poverty and re-poverty caused by illness in agricultural and pastoral areas . The implementation of liver health promotion project in Gannan prefecture would not only help prevent and control major infectious diseases and protect the health of local people, but would also be of great significance to boosting the economic development of agriculture and animal husbandry, promoting social harmony and stability, and building a comprehensive well-off society by 2020. The project will strictly comply with relevant national regulations and be implemented in a down-to-earth manner to ensure that the target population can benefit from it. The project will welcome the supervision of all sectors of society.
