Led by Yang Guanlin, a member of the national committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, a member of the central committee of Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party (CPWDP), deputy director of the Standing Committee of Liaoning Provincial People's Congress and chairman of Liaoning provincial committee of CPWDP, the research group carried out democratic supervision activities over poverty alleviation on September 18-21, 2019, in Kunming, the counterpart city of democratic supervision for Liaoning Peasants and Workers’ Democratic Party. Director Li Mingyang of China Liver Health and others attended the panel discussion and research activities.
On the morning of Sep 19, the research group held a panel discussion on democratic supervision work over poverty alleviation in the Kunming Hall. Yang Guanlin attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Liu Zhi, deputy secretary of the CPC Kunming Municipal Party Committee, chaired the meeting and made a closing speech.
In the speech, Yang Guanlin congratulated Kunming for its achievements in poverty alleviation. He pointed out that democratic supervision over poverty alleviation was essential and compulsory. Specifically, the central committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) assigns the supervision work of poverty alleviation to democratic parties, which gives full play to the advantage of the multi-party cooperation and political consultation system led by the CPC. Since the beginning of poverty alleviation work, the central committee of CPWDP and Yunnan province are closely connected with each other, so do the Liaoning provincial committee of CPWDP and Kunming City. He put forward three suggestions. First, we should study and understand Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and study and implement important statements by General Secretary Xi Jinping on poverty alleviation. At different stages of development, the theoretical system is constantly changing. We must learn and comprehend the theory of each period and stage, as it is of concrete significance for guiding our practical work. Second, in terms of specific measures for poverty alleviation, we must focus on poverty alleviation through industry, education and healthcare, and talent flow in poor areas. How to retain, attract and make good use of talents is a major issue facing poor areas. Third, the research group will provide research results for Kunming government so as to help Kunming solve the existing problems and fulfil the task of poverty alleviation. Mayor Liu Zhi pointed out in his speech that, following the instructions of the central committee, the Liaoning provincial committee of CPWDP was responsible for carrying out democratic supervision over poverty alleviation in Kunming and had visited local poverty-stricken counties and districts for many times. The combination of democratic supervision and work progress contributes to discovering and solving problems and facilitates positive results in poverty alleviation in Kunming. As for the problems identified through democratic supervision over poverty alleviation work in 2018, most have been rectified, and some are still being rectified. Next, Kunming will earnestly perform its responsibilities and make efforts so as to achieve substantial results. Kunming will attach importance to the problems pointed out and suggestions put forward by the research group, make a list of problems, causes, responsibilities and solutions accordingly, and carry out rectification one by one, jointly turning the process of democratic supervision into a process of discovering, studying and solving problems. |
