Poverty Alleviation Promotion and Spokesman Training for China NGOs Held by MCA

The 2019 Training Session on Poverty Alleviation Publicity for Social Organizations and Press Spokesman was held by the Social Organization Management Bureau of the Ministry of Civil Affairs in Beijing on Nov 8. Chen Xiaoyong, deputy director of the Social Organization Management Bureau of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Shen Yingsheng from China Liver Health and spokesmen from other 260 social organizations attended the training session.

The Social Organization Management Bureau introduced the basic situation of publicity work of social organizations in 2019 and preliminary work arrangements for 2020. It created demands for the general social organizations to study, publicize and implement the spirit of the fourth plenary session of the 19^th CPC Central Committee as an important political task, to maintain unity in thought and action with the decisions and plans made by the Party Central Committee so as to carry forward the spirit of the plenary session and achieve tangible results. Press spokesmen of social organizations were required to strengthen study, improve political stance and take the lead in consolidating ideals and beliefs; to keep innovation and propagate good examples in social organizations; to praise the good and punish the wicked, guide public opinion and demonstrate positive energy of social organizations.

The training focused on the combination of policy and theory, specialization and popularization. Lectures were given on the spirit of the fourth plenary session of the 19^th CPC Central Committee, important statements by General Secretary Xi Jinping on poverty alleviation and civil affairs work, relevant policies involving the participation of social organizations in poverty alleviation as well as the topic of “publicity on poverty alleviation and the construction of press spokesman system for social organizations”. The training courses included lectures on poverty alleviation policies as well as experience sharing in carrying out poverty alleviation by social organizations, included the introduction of publicity platforms for social organizations as well as operation experience sharing by other media. Experts and teachers from the new media center of the Communist Youth League, Xinhua News Agency, China Central Television, China Youth Daily, ByteDance and Shanxi Jinshangxing Science and Technology Co., Ltd, gave elaborate lectures. On behalf of the participating institutions of National Social Organization Publicity Partnership Program, four social organizations, including China Mining Association, China Good Agri-products Development and Service Association, China Children and Teenagers’ Fund and China Organ Transplantation Development Foundation, shared experience in press publicity and the construction of press spokesman system. Additionally, the training course introduced the national government service platform, China convergence media platform for social organization and the China Social Organization magazine, and issued course-completion certificate and Work Guideline for Press Spokesman of Social Organization to the participants.

The trainees said that the training course was rich in content and well-organized. Through the training, the trainees know more about the policies and regulations for social organizations to participate in poverty alleviation and rural revitalization, and have a clearer understanding of how to do well in press publicity in the all-media era. Those gains and benefits will inspire social organizations to make more efforts and play an active role in the future.
