The first monthly event of China Hepatitis C Elimination Alliance Public Welfare Project-No Hepatitis C in the World was launched nationwide by China Liver Health together with Gilead Sciences and Medlinker on October 28, 2020. 11 hospitals, including Pingquan Municipal Hospital, First People's Hospital of Xiaochang County, First Teaching Hospital of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Lanzhou University Second Hospital, Xi'an International Medical Center Hospital, Qiqihar Municipal Seventh Hospital, Huai'an Fourth People's Hospital and First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Medical University, carried out health education and free clinic activity for hepatitis prevention and treatment as planned. A total of 572 people at high risk of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection received HCV antibody test and 87 showed positive results, with a positive rate of 15.21%. Supported by the project, those people will also receive subsequent nucleic acid test. Confirmed patients will be admitted to local specialist hospitals through green channel of treatment. Viral hepatitis is a major public health problem that seriously endangers human health. In China, there are about 10 million people infected with HCV. However, most of them have not received timely detection and treatment, which may develop into serious diseases such as liver cirrhosis and liver tumor and causes huge social and family burdens. In order to promote the screening, test and treatment of hepatitis C, during the World Hepatitis Day in 2020, China Liver Health and Gilead Sciences carried out the activity called China Hepatitis C Elimination Alliance Public Welfare Project-No Hepatitis C in the World in cooperation with 177 hospitals nationwide. The general public actively participated in the event. A total of 12,123 people received HCV antibody test, of which 1,196 showed positive results. In response to the strong demand of the general public for hepatitis C test, China Liver Health will support nationwide hospitals to carry out free hepatitis C test, diagnosis and health education on the 28th of every month. Specific procedures are as follows: 1. Public hospitals (second class or above) can apply for support from China Liver Health in carrying out health education and free diagnosis activities for hepatitis prevention and treatment, including hepatitis C screening and test if the number of people tested is estimated to exceed 50. 2. According to the scale of activities, China Liver Health will provide free rapid HCV antibody test strips, quantitative HCV nucleic acid test, publicity brochures for hepatitis C prevention and treatment, volunteer allowance, etc., to assist hospitals in hepatitis C screening and test. 3. Hospitals can apply for support every month. It is recommended that the activity be arranged on the 28th of every month.
