This project was launched in 2016, jointly organized by Chinese Foundation for Hepatitis Prevention and Control and the WHO.

In February, 2017, the coordination conference of the project was held in Shanghai. Professor Yang Xizhong (middle right), executive deputy director of Chinese Foundation for Hepatitis Prevention and Control, Doctor Po-lin Chan (middle left), Senior Medical Advisor of the WHO, Director Li Mingyang (3rd from the right) of China Liver Health attended the conference.

The aim of the project is to understand and analyze the status quo of discrimination against hepatitis B in China through questionnaire, and provide evidence for policy responses.

Under the guidance of Chinese Foundation for Hepatitis Prevention and Control, experts from Peking University Health Science Center, China CDC, Chinese Society of Hepatology, and hospitals took part in the project planning, questionnaire design, and survey quality control. We selected Hepatitis B patients from Beijing, Guangzhou, Henan and Shaanxi as participants, and collected 800 valid questionnaires. After data analysis, we completed the report and accomplished the research plan. Peking University People’s Hospital, Nanfang Hospital, Henan Provincial People’s Hospital and Xijing Hospital, etc. were involved in the survey.

This project reviewed the status quo of the discrimination against hepatitis B patients and relevant policies, developed tools to measure the discrimination, undertook the survey, and analyzed the deeper reason. Achievements have been made so far.
